Freelancing means the worker works at home at preferable hours for desired length of time. This is also called telecommuting. Because of the freedom enjoyed, the number of telecommuters is increasing exponantially.
The type of job varies so widely that all of them cannot be listed. Some common form of works are reading and answering emails, typing certain texts, taking surveys; answering phonecalls; referring people to a particular website, and converting document formats. Some less common are graphics designing, providing program codes for software and doing financial calculations.
As the demand for stay home jobs has increased, millions of websites sprouted out which make false promises and say all to make you subscribe on payment of fees which looks not-so-big for you; but when thousands of people subscribe the service provider makes quite a good fortune. Sometime they do send you work soon after you have registered to give you a feeling that you are getting works-at-home. But as soon as you earned about 50% of the fees you have paid they send you no more work. If you contact them they say "Technical Error/Difficulty" or sometimes even "Sorry, we are out of service".
To avoid scams, do not pay unless you have contacted with members of the site and got positive responses. If you are in any doubt, it is more likely that it is a scam. The most convincing websites which warns you about scams can also be scams.
Here are some questions you need to ask before you take any telecommuting job:
1. When will I be payed, monthly or weekly?
2. How will you pay me, by cheque or in cash or through PayPal?
3. Is there a fine if I fail to complete my job in time? If yes, what?
4. Can't you take the subscription fee from my earning? Why not?
It is really hard to find a genuine telecommuting jobs online thesedays. But still there is hope. If you have chosen to be a tellecommuter, you will have to do a lot of browsings. After some hard try you can get into the right track; and once in the right track you will be able to get on.
