The issue to allow prescription drugs into this country is not a easy situation. For those who are under insured and low income folks I agree something needs to be done to assist them. I feel socialized medicine isnt the answer either. The reason I am opposed to import drugs is fo two very valid reasons. First of all the safety of the American public, we need to know that the drugs people are taking are safe and of good quality. There is the chance of tainted or bunk drugs imported. Secondly the American economy would take a hit. It seems most of our industy has been out sourced, we need the jobs here.

I agree the FDA needs to lighten up, they tend to cause half the trouble when terminal patients need the latest thing. I also know their red tape usually drives the prices to insane
levels. My belief in less government applies loudly here. If the FDA backed off, the prices of drugs would be reasonable, and it would stop the need to obtain drugs fromother nations.

In respect to the poor and uninsured, the drug companies could set up a payment plan, for those medicines that are expensive. One other option would be to give the copanies a tax break
for lowering the cost or giving medicine to those in need.
