Poetry: The fire within

The fire within
It burns away fiercely
And never shall it emit such flame again
But once on that swollen man
-
The light surrounding
Its force would blind thee
And the sun could not challenge it fairly
For it was the power of the man
-
And the heat
Its warmth a tempting comfort
But it would scorch and blister its foe
And it was built around the man
-
The colors so bold
They frightened each other

And into a dance of rage they would go
And they fought in circles above that majestic man
-
Memories themselves inside
They became etched in the mind
And memories more than memories would exist
And the memories tortured the abused man
-
And the fire
Built by the memories ignited
Seeing the light was a trip to the theater
And the theater became the physical appearance of the man
-
When the fire burns
And the memories flicker apparent
No being will be able to stop him
No being but the nature of man itself
-
A tear will come
It will slide down the cheek, now red with heat
One at a time with cool liquid
And regret will come to the man
-
Hatred will come
Joy will come
Confusion will come
But the regret shall always envelope the man most
-
A scream will come
It will rip open the air, now congested of smoke
Again and again with terrible shrieks
And pain will come to the man
-
The burning will slow
Memories will again become internal
And the flames of death will subside
Just to return again to the mauled soul of the man
