Natural cures for kidney stones

What with the uncomfortable and sometimes deadly side effects of prescriptions these days, Natural Medicine is becoming more and more popular. At first I was quite skeptical about using plants and minerals to cure my ailments, feeding into the commercialism of the drug companies that I had been exposed to all my life. Then a horrible case of kidney stones changed my thinking drastically.

It was March, I had returned from a trip to Florida with a nice tan, great memories, and a severe bladder infection. I had no health insurance and no money to spare. A friend gave me some antibiotics which were supposed to be taken with lots of water. Unfortunately, I had an upper GI scheduled and I wasn't allowed any food or liquid for 12 hours. Due to the lack of water consumption, I developed kidney stones as a side effect of the antibiotics. The last thing I wanted, or could afford, was another prescription.

My mother had been reading about holistic healing and herbal remedies, so we decided to experiment with a recipe she had come across. As I said, I didn't have much faith, but I figured things couldn't get much worse. Besides, the pain was unbearable!

For less than $50 dollars, she purchased the four necessary herbal extracts (Gravel Root, Corn Silk, Madder Hydrangea, and Collinsonia Root), some Blue Cohosh for pain, and Ecinacea tea to mix it all in. According to the instructions, after a week of drinking the concoction three times a day, I would be cured.

Let me tell you, I was shocked. Not only was my pain was alleviated on the first day, but I was able to pass my stones within 3 days, and the herbs had broken them down into such small pieces that the process was virtually painless. I also learned in cases of reoccurring kidney stones, the tea can be consumed once a month or whenever desired as a preventative treatment.

As with all things relating to the human body, everybody can expect a different reaction to herbs and various healing rates. I would definitely recommend trying natural cures as either a first or last resort, chances are you'll get much better results while only worrying about beneficial side effects.
