My gaze lingers upon a pair of animated socks. A short obese kid was splattered on the front, highlighted by delicate gold stitching that reads "I'm not fat, I'm just big boned" I give a little chuckle and throw them into the shopping trolley. But wait! That can't be right... my eyes bulge slightly as the price tag looms into my vision. Five pounds for one single pair of socks? I could buy a packet of twenty for a pound, so what makes these ones so special. I give a little sigh and toss them aside. I'll just have to keep looking I suppose...
But thats the trouble. Even as I look I don't quite know what I am looking for. I mean what do men really want? As a young woman I was always brought up to believe men were only interested in simple-minded things such as The Playstation, football, beer, babes and quick cash. But I could easily purchase a Playstation game with FIFA written across a page 3 model, wearing nothing but glued on cash and holding a pint of Fosters, however I'm not quite sure that would have the same effect would it? I want to show my partner that I love him, to give him something that only his lover would actually have bought him. Maybe a packet of condoms would do the trick?
You know last February I actually brought my partner a box of shopping. Don't laugh at that bit because I'm actually being serious. I spent thirty pound on a variety of very carefully, hand selected food that I know he simply adores but would never waste his own money on. Things such as a foot long bar of Galaxy and his favorite chocolate cake topped with a pint of milk and a packet of finger biscuits. Yes yes, he now weighs about 32 stone and suffers from heart problems but I'll hold no responsibility to that one! You can laugh at that bit... I'm just kidding, he actually weighs 40 stone. Anyways, when I pulled out this massive box with thirty five wrapped up presents (even the milk) he was positively ecstatic and loved the fact that I had actually known all of his favorite foods. It just goes to show that buying a real brand once in a while really can put a smile on anyones face.
So my advise is this, its really not about money or the size of the present, (even though you can't really get much better than thirty five hand wrapped gifts can you?!) but all it really boils down to is the thought. Men love to know that you actually take an interest in what they have to say, and even take the time to remember these little things. Maybe a gift that can make him chuckle, reminisce or just light up his eyes with happy amazement. He can receive a million designer clothes and diamonds from his friends and the rest of his family, but your gift will reach him deeper inside then any boring old material possession. Your gift is a gift of love, warmth and understanding. Last time I checked you couldn't buy that in in your local grocers! Happy Shopping and Good Luck x
