When my second-born daughter, Danielle was young, her favorite song was "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". Little did I know that many years later this songs precious words would be the last I would sing to her. Almost four years ago, Danielle was taken home to Jesus after her long and courageous battle with Ewings Sarcoma, an incurable bone cancer.

that bitterly cold day , on January 6, 2004, I kneeled before her as she lay on her living room couch and quietly sang the words of the song to her. I then whispered into her ear, "Soon you will see the face of Jesus, of the one of whom I sing." That was about ten o'clock in the morning. By 4:50 p.m., only the shell of my daughter remained. The person she was, her very spirit, was in the prescence of Jesus Christ Himself, for when we are absent from our body, we are present with the Lord. Tomorrow would have been Danielle's thirtieth birthday. I miss her so. During these last four years I have learned of what a friend Jesus truly is. He has healed my broken heart, brought me comfort as no man or woman could do, and has not left me nor forsaken me. He holds all my tears in a bottle, and has loved me with His everlasting love. What a friend I have in Jesus! Do you?
