If a husband makes a wife happy, it is as the well-known commercial states...priceless. Literally. All the things that make a wife happy, will not cost the husband a dime.

COMMUNICATION

Whether it is sharing feelings or telling the spouse about an evening meeting, communication is essential to a good relationship. Wives tend to have to do the lion's share of organizing schedules for the family, so if the husband talks to his wife in advance about conflicts, it usually leads to a more peaceful relationship. Women like men to share their thoughts and feelings. Yes, taking out the garbage sends a message, but women like to be told that they are loved, cared for, appreciated, and beautiful. Say it. It will consistently make the wife happier.

AFFECTION

Another way to make the wife happy is to show affection. Put an arm around her waist, stroke her hair, place a kiss on her neck, and of course hold her hand. Holding hands is very sexy and intimate. Just be careful out in public. Most wives do not appreciate a slap on the bottom out in public in front of the boys. That kind of affection rarely leads to a happy wife. A kiss and hug before leaving for work and before going to bed are always appropriate. You never know what will come next in life, and the final gift to that spouse might be that hug or kiss.

TIME

It is important to give the gift of time to one's spouse. Develop some activity to enjoy together. It may be gardening, going to the movies or out to dinner or riding bikes. Finding a mutually enjoyed hobby or interest is key to a happy marriage. This is excellent bonding time. This should not be something that either spouse already is devoted to such as the husband enjoying football and wanting the wife to watch the game with him or the wife wanting the husband to go shopping. This should be a new interest. This is a selfless act, but in the end the relationship will prosper because of it.

DAILY TASKS

There are everyday little tasks that if a husband takes care of them it will make a wife much happier. Some little things are picking up laundry, taking out the garbage, or cleaning the bathroom. There is nothing sexier than a man who can operate a vacuum. Learn to volunteer to do these tasks and do not make your wife ask to have them done.

PLANNING

Wives love to have husbands plan activities and dates for them. It is the most thoughtful way to show the wife that he cares. Plan supper, plan a vacation, or plan a date. Any time the wife doesn't have initiate these activities it makes her feel better about the relationship.

THOUGHTFULNESS

Believe it or not, simple thoughtfulness is the easiest way to make a wife happy. The old adage of treat people the way you would want to be treated. Say please, thank you and of course I am sorry. Carry in the groceries from the car, open the door for her or get up in the night with a sick child. Simple selfless acts of generosity of spirit show how much she is loved.

To make a wife happy, it doesn't take money. It takes consideration, attention and kindness. Taking the time to make her feel appreciated and loved, will create a happier marriage.
