Old oak furniture one of the best furniture pieces that any one can buy from coffee tables to dinning tables,and in between we have old welsh dressers and nice corner units,so how do we take care of our oak furniture after we have paid a small fortune for the .

Well the very first thing that any one should do after taking delivery of any oak furniture is to make sure that you do not put them in direct sunshine,this is the most important thing that you must do,place them if you like were the sun dont shine as the saying goes.

Now how do we keep them in the pristine condition that they come in ,always when dusting them use a soft duster you may use a furniture polish but do not over do it i always use a bee's wax polish once a month on mine ,in between i polish lightly with a very soft cloth.

When you polish with the bee's wax polish with the grain and as i have said do not over do it with the polish it can actually attract the dust and dirt.

Never drag any ornament's that you have put on the oak furniture for show when cleaning them pick them up vertically and put them down gently.

One tip that i can give you is if you have oak drawers the some times stick when you open them if this happens then but a bit of bees wax on the inside of the top of the drawers,this will ensure that they will not stick in the future.

Never put hot cups or mugs on the wood always use a coaster to put them on ,that goes for anything that is hot it will ruing you oak surface and it will cost you a quite a lot of money to put right you will have to employ a french polisher to put the item back to how it was .

Looked after in the right way oak furniture will last your life time and will be admired bu you great great great great grandchildren who will thank you from there bottom of there hearts for the loving care that you have shown to this most grand piece of wood.
