As an elementary school teacher I am blessed to be surrounded by the company of children every day. Their silliness fills me with energy and revitalizes me. Their laughter reminds me not to take life so seriously and not to take myself so seriously. They enrich my world and I feel blessed to have a job that I love. One of the best things about my job is the fact that kids do indeed say the darndest things!

I was teaching kindergarten physical education last year while I was pregnant and I always found the questions that children asked me about my growing belly to be ever so amusing. I was used to hearing stories about their mommy's bellies and their baby brothers and sisters. Understanding pregnancy is a difficult concept when you are only four or five, so it goes without saying that being a teacher "with child" sparks some interesting conversation and elicits humorous comments from the children. However, it was a conversation with one little boy in particular that keeps me smiling to this day.

We were lining up after class and the child turned to me, with a very serious look on his face, and told me that I ate too much candy.

"oh no, sweetheart," I replied, "It's not candy, it's a baby."

Without missing a beat he looked up at me with his big blue eyes and asked, "Do you like eating babies?"

I love my job.
