One needs to ask themselves some serious questions about why you would want to get back with an ex. Something broke down in the relationship first time round. Is that reason still an issue?

Granted, there would have been things that you found immensely attractive in your ex. And perhaps those attributes are worth having again in a trade off of the negative side.

If you really want to get back with an ex:

1. Be prepared to compromise. Their bad habits or what ever drove you apart are probably still present. Don't expect them to be completely changed for the sake of giving the relationship another go.

2. Accept your share of responsibility for the break down. Look at ways you can be more accommodating to the partner. But don't become a doormat.

3. Don't expect things to go back how they were at the beginning of the relationship. People move on and change throughout life. You have to concentrate on the present and future and not trying to recapture the past.

4. What ever may have happened in the past must be forgiven and forgotten. It's no good getting back with an ex yet still carrying a grudge about events that may have transpired in the past. Start over with a clean slate.
