What should a husband do to make his wife happy? It sounds like it might be a line in an old comedy routine. Somehow, I keep expecting a punch line to follow. Although it does sound like part of a corny joke, husbands might want to give it some serious thought. The husband who manages to make his wife happy usually finds that his own life becomes more blissful. So, how can this be done? The answer lies in one important word...the word "remember."

In fact, that word is so important that you guys may want to write it down. While you are at it, write down her birthday, your anniversary, and any other dates that are special to her. Remember these occasions, and surprise her with flowers or a card, and you will go a long way toward making her happy. If your memory is less than perfect, get yourself a pocket-sized notebook, and keep it with you at all times.

Use that notebook to help you remember any errands your wife asks you to run. If she asks you to pick up the dry cleaning, or stop at the store for some milk, she is counting on you to do it. Make sure you do not forget, because excuses will not make her happy.

One of the most commonly heard complaints from wives is that their husbands do not listen to them, or remember what they have said. You have to actually pay attention to her when she is talking to you. Do not let your eyes glaze over or your mind drift to baseball scores. Then, make an effort to retain what she has said. Several days later, when some reference is made to that conversation, you will score big points with your wife if you remember it.

Always put your keys and other personal items in one spot, so that you can remember where to find them. Running around and swearing at yourself because you cannot find these things will annoy your wife. Avoiding these occurrences will improve your wife's mood.

Remember to let her know when you are going to be late. If you are supposed to meet her, remember the time and place. If you get unavoidably detained, call her and explain the situation. Waiting for a husband who does not call, will make your wife extremely unhappy.

Finally, remember why you fell in love with your wife. Remember the fun you had before you became a couple with responsibilities. Tell her what you love about her, and you will surely make her day. If your wife is happy, your own life will probably be happy too. And there is nothing corny about that.
