The night had turned to morning and Serena was now waking as the sunlight lit up the room. It wasn't the sunlight though that woke up Serena of a peaceful night of sleep. Instead the shrill screams that loudly surrounded her startled Serena into waking up this morning. Disoriented and alarmed she quickly attempted to sit up only to realize that she was unable to move her body in the bed. Feeling restricted and confined she moved her head to the left and her eyes downward until she saw only the thin hospital blanket covering her body that went up over her chest. Struggling to move unsuccessfully a rush of panic ran ferociously through her as she continued to try to force her arms free from whatever was binding them. Her legs seemed to be bound too, she could move them but her ankles were pinned down just like her wrists. she had blocked out the sounds of people screaming as she was consumed with her inability to get out of bed.
"Please somebody help me!" she heard herself scream out as panic engulfed her.
Her eyes now wild with fear as she frantically pulled and pulled her arms and legs trying to free herself from whatever was restraining her.
"Help me! Help me! Help me please somebody!" Serena heard herself scream in a tormented cry like the others that were screaming around her. It seemed like her cries were going unanswered as she thrashed around in frantically trying to free herself.
"Stop thrashing around like that you Will hurt yourself!" the unkind voice of a woman firmly commanded. It was as if Serena did not hear her as she was locked in the moment of trying desperately to force her ankles and wrists free and blinded by the panic and dread that consumed her.
"Listen stop it right now young lady you will surely cause yourself injury if you continue to fight like this" the same unkind woman's voice rang closer to her ears as the woman was no standing right beside her bed and now had her hand on Serena's right leg firmly in an effort to get her attention.
"Please help me I can't move I am pinned down to my bed." She pleaded with the woman.
Serena's mind was blurred and all of this felt so surreal like a bad dream that she could not wake up from.
"Look I can't let you get up the Doctor has ordered you to be restrained to you bed until we have completed assessing your mental health." The woman's voice was a little kinder now.
"Where am I" she asked.
"You are in the hospital" responded the woman.
Since she had woke up her thoughts were in a different
