Natural ways to get gorgeous hair

Who wouldn't love to have Angelina Jolie's luxurious head of hair, or Gwyneth Paltrow's long vibrant locks? Are those sighs of yearning I can hear? That gorgeous hair you've been dreaming about can become a reality and you don't have to go further than your kitchen cupboards! Drab, lacklustre hair will be a thing of the past and I'll let you in on the secret..

FOR DRY HAIR
If, like me, you suffer from dry, flaky and you've tried (unsuccessfully) every scientifically proven, extra intensive, long lasting' conditioner on the market, then perhaps it's time to look to your fridge for some comfort. Bypass the tempting chocolate and grab a jar of mayonnaise. Half an hour before shampooing, rub four to five teaspoons of mayo into your hair, from your roots to the ends. The oil, egg and mustard powder in the mayo is the perfect natural remedy for adding moisture to your hair. After you've shampooed the mayo out of your hair, use half a teaspoon of honey in approx a litre of water to rinse. Don't wash the rinse out as it is the perfect natural conditioner for dry hair. Use this treatment once a week to maintain moisture.

FOR OILY HAIR
My sister had a problem with oily greasy hair, no matter what products she tried, she simply couldn't find a solution until she found the perfect answer in the form of oranges and lentils. Soak any type of lentil in a glass of water for half an hour while you boil the rind of an orange. Remove the lentils and boiled rind and mix the two waters. This will provide you with the perfect rinse for oily hair. Use after shampooing and don't wash out. (You don't even have to waste the lentils which are a good source of protein, and the boiled rind can be used in baking cakes or cookies!)

FOR COLOURED HAIR
I've often found that my coloured hair begins to dull after a few weeks. This is mainly due to the styling products that we all generally use, which builds up with repetitive use and dulls the shine and tone of our hair. A natural, chemical free way to remove this build up is to mix 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1 gallon of water. Wash your hair as per usual, then using two cups of the rinse, pour over the scalp, massage in thoroughly then rinse out. You can store this handy rinse in the fridge or cupboard! If used every couple of weeks, your hair should retain its colouring and shine, not mention it will be squeaky clean and smell fresh for days!

FRIZZY, CURLY HAIR
Who hasn't woken up in the morning and despaired over their frizzy uncontrollable hair? I know I have, and I've spent good time and money on straightening chemicals and tongs which often do more damage in the long term! If you're looking for a natural method to achieve straight hair, then this is what you've been waiting for! And all you need is a coconut and a lime and a little bit of patience. First you need to get a fresh coconut. Extract a glassful of milk from the pulp and add the juice from one lime. Stir the mixture thoroughly then leave in the fridge until you can see a creamy layer on the top. Use this cream to rub into your scalp and leave on for about an hour. You can wrap your hair in a hot towel for best results. Rinse out with mild shampoo (or with one of the rinses for dry or oily hair!) and warm water. If you repeat this once a week you will soon notice that your uncontrollable frizz is becoming straight and manageable!

Now get out there and dazzle everyone with your shiny, straight, gorgeous hair, just like nature intended!
