Should Paris Hilton get money for her jail house story? Let me think....should I get elected President of the United States tomorrow after giving up my current title of Pope? You have got to be kidding me. Paris Hilton is famous for being infamous. She earned her glory after appearing in a sex tape that leaked out to the public. God bless America. After appearing in public panty-less more times than I care to count, she tried to set a world record for driving without a license, driving on a suspended license and driving under the influence. While the rest of us would still remain locked away in a windowless cell, Ms. Paris skated free for well over a year. When she finally met her punishment it was first limited to only 45 days in jail. This sentence was already far less than the "average Joe" would have gotten for the same crime. Then, after throwing a hissy fit that was rivaled only by Sarah Burnheart at her finest, this time was reduced to a mere 25 days. Boo-Hoo. Each day, instead of seeing the war in Iraq, or other real world news, the public was forced to watch the plight of poor Paris. We had to observe each day as she served her "hard time" in lock up. After her release, the world again had to listen to her missives on her horrific incarceration, including how difficult it was for her to endure eating a Bologna sandwich at lunch. Hey, I had one of those yesterday. It was fried and delicious. Why in the world would anyone now offer to pay her one million dollars to hear this tale of woe again? From past experience, and from listening to her speak in public for years, it is not as if she is going to offer some deep insight that will change the world. Likely, she will pull the same stunt she did recently on Letterman; she will surely cry if someone asks her challenging questions. How much experience could she have actually gained in 25 days anyway? She apparently spent most of her time shut away in her cell because of her mystery illness. The public has already heard this story endlessly for every day she spent in prison. She eclipsed real world news for 3 weeks. Why pay her money to repeat these stories? If we are going to pay Paris Hilton money, we should pay her to go back to prison and serve out the rest of her sentence. If she was any one of us, she would still be locked up. No one would be offering her a dime for anything. If she was one of us, no one would care.
