Pound for pound Larry Csonka running back for the Miami Dolphins was the toughest yard for yard running back in the history of the NFL . His straight forward power running gave him the nick name bull dozer , Standing six foot three inches tall and weighing 235 pounds , his strength and character made him a Hall Of Fame member .
The Dolphins undefeated season and Super Bowl VIII victory show cased his style of running . Many defensive player feared Csonka , he would often drag two and three players five and ten yards on a carry . Csonka's ability as a running back were exceptional , he rarely fumbled or dropped a pass . He was named tenth toughest all time player in the NFL . He was probably the only running back to be charged with a personal foul for throwing a forearm in to the face of John Pitts of the Buffalo Bills , and knocking him out .
Csonka the five time Pro-Bowler had a Carree rushing yards of 8,o81 yards , he averaged 4.3 yards a carry , with 64 touch downs . The perfect season as it was called in 1972 , gave Csonka the Super athlete of the year awarded by Professional Football writers association .
Since his retirement he was inducted in to the Foot ball Hall of Fame in 1987 , and now does inspirational speaking and hunting and fishing shows on OLN . His number #39 jersey was retired by the Miami Dolphins franchise in 2002 and was named as a member of Super Bowl Dream Team . Csonka now resides in Anchorage Alaska .
