Yes, the Summer heat in the Caribbean isn't as bad as some people believe it to be. I went to many places between Florida and South America during the Summer season and I must tell you that the, so called, heat really isn't that much of a hindrance.

You see, dear reader, there is a constant breeze that is quite refreshing and the hot spots, entertainment wise, are air-conditioned. If you like to fish, being on the water is, most of the time, cooler than the land. Swimming, diving and other water sports is why most people go to the islands. If you don't, you are truly missing a whole other World.

It is true that people go to those places for other reasons. Shopping is also an incredible experience. You can bargain for the price of what the hundreds of vendors have to offer. They speak English and they are most eager to make a deal, knowing full well that whatever you pay will earn a profit for them.

I'm sorry to say that there is a negative side to the Caribbean experience. Then again, those negatives are common to most places that people visit. I'm talking about illegal, deadly and addictive drugs and street crimes. You must do your very best to avoid both of those evils. Avoid the back allies and stay with groups of other tourists. Keep your room locked and do not tempt people with what they might believe to be valuable objects. Use a money belt rather that a wallet or purse. If you use U.S. dollars, be mindful of the rate of exchange between yours and their currency. Don't over tip because that draws attention to yourself.

There is another danger that you must be mindful of. Yes, that danger is the weather and tropical storms and hurricanes in particular. Those storms can become truly powerful within a matter of hours and cause untold damage to you or your property. That, dear reader, is the drawback to a trip to the Caribbean during the Summer.
