My boyfriend has a very enviable job which permits him to travel in luxury most of the time and stay in wonderful homes/hotels - he is a very privileged person but at the same time, very grounded.
I know I could never compete with his privileged lifestyle as he works as a bodyguard and I am not going to mention where or whom he works for, but lets just say its a job that gives him so many opportunities of travel (which he loves to do) and I am pleased that he can achieve his goal in life.
Now you may be wondering what I could give to him that would top all this. Well despite his very privileged job, there are times when he has to just hang around outside a building in the pouring rain or freezing cold, or there is no shade from the sun and he has to wear a suit even when its an extremely warm day, even just sitting in a car waiting for his boss
So what could I possibly give my boyfriend that he would think is the ultimate birthday present? Tough call, but deep down, he is just an ordinary guy and he would be very happy with most things I give him and calls me a "silly old thing".
He even surprised me one time when I had brought him the previous year a pair of socks with a particularly jazzy motif on them and said "do you remember these" when we were out one evening and showed me socks with the jazzy motif.
So even with his tough exterior due to the nature of the job and his sometimes aloofness, he completely overwhelmed me with this little gesture, proving that he really was a big softie at heart.
Anyway, I invested in an introductory flying lesson for him, and although he flies a lot (as a passenger) with his job, he has always wanted to learn to fly, and once said to me that if he had not been doing the job now, he would have tried to come an airline pilot.
Flying is an expensive hobby, but I know he would love this present and it gave me great pleasure to get this for him and I went along on the day when he had his lesson a little while ago.
Who knows, I may just treat him again with more lessons. After all it's the giving that is the real pleasure. I said to him that if I won a substantial amount on the lottery, I would buy him a small plane. He laughed and said again "you silly old thing".
Apart from that what more could he possibly want for his birthday when he has got me, his gorgeous, sexy, enthusiastic girlfriend all wrapped up waiting for him to come back from his latest trip now out in Singapore.
