Title:As I've Said
When I was a child, I saw colors and colors
And was never satisfied with words that meant what they said,
When heard, when said, when written, when said.
So I painted them instead.
I painted them red and red.
The red bled from the white but changed how the yellow hit the light,
The yellow is the light, yellow and white.
Dripped light turned dark into a lavender night.
I saw more colors and colors
And I wanted to describe those colors
But as you've heard, as I've said, as I've written, as I've said,
I had painted those words instead.
The light the white, the lavender, the bright, the darkness.
They were words painted as colors, shapes, hues, depths that were
objects, people, other people, yourself, other selfs, shelves and empty spaces
Placing, painting, words
And the commas showed gray between.
Older now, I am still not satisfied with satisfied.
I am only satisfied with commas.

I am gray.
For I am not innocent enough to be white
Nor am I angry enough for the color red.
I'm not so bad to be the color
Red.
Angry, passionate, sexy.
The feel of satin against skin.
Pink.
Sweet, delicate, young.
The smell of newly washed sheets.
Yellow.
