Unfortunately I have a sibling that hates me. This individual hated me from a very early age. There were physical fights, name-calling and many mean things carried out against me by this individual before the age of ten. Even as a teenager, this individual was very mean to me. Issues having to do with communication and getting along together never resolved themselves during childhood. They have been carried over into adulthood. We are in our fifties now and I know very little about this sibling. I'm ignored as if I never existed.

My sibling does see mother and is careful to arrange visits that do not coincide with my presence. Mother is approaching eighty years of age and I've noticed on the refrigerator in her apartment an emergency call list created by my sibling. It was hurtful to see that my name was purposely omitted from this list as if I didn't exist as a daughter. Instead, other siblings names are included.

There have been times that I have seen this sibling at family gatherings and she goes to great lengths not to have eye contact with me. If there is eye contact, it is brief and the facial expression is one of complete hatred. There is no exchange of birthday cards or holiday cards and if I'm ill, and she is aware of it, there are no phone calls to see if I'm managing or need assistance.

Believe me, you will know if someone hates you. Actions speak louder than words and expressions speak volumes. Go by your gut instinct.
