Anything and everything that makes a person feels good is great. Retail therapy, shopping for fun is healthy as long as you don't dip into the rent or bill money. Personally speaking, window shopping works wonders for me, when I am unable to shop, I always take a small tablet and jot down items I like and when I am able to purchase them I give myself a dose of retail therapy. During the Holidays, my girlfriends and I gather to go shopping on the weekends for ourselves and others, the fun thing is, we are together and sometimes we may walk out of the mall with just zero to five or more items apiece. When I feel down about something I hop into my car and head to my favorite boutiques or mall and uplift my mood by using two of my senses, sight and touch. Seeing a beautiful piece of jewelry or a pair of my favorite Christian Louboutin shoes and actually putting either on will make me feel like I just won a million dollar sweepstakes. Shopping displays colors, textures and varieties of objects that put us in a trance like we just stepped into another galaxy, it's wonderful too. It would be interesting to see if patients in hospitals could tune into a program that would allow them mentally to go shopping for fun, and in doing so this would up lift them to get well so they could get the strength to physically get out of that bed and go shopping.
