Finding the right hairstyle for you

Just because Jennifer Aniston looked good in that hairstyle it doesn't mean you'll look the same. Before deciding on a hair style it is important to know what hairstyles will look the best on you.

Hairstyle is closely related to the shape of our face. Face shapes can be categorized to: Round; Oblong; Heart; Square; Diamond and Oval. Finding out the shape of your face requires careful measurement, but the best person to judge that is a professional hair stylist.

Round face should avoid chin-length styles with center parts. This will only make you look like a school girl. Try a short style with your hair to a backwards direction, or a length longer than your chin to cover the width of your face, this will make your face appear longer and narrower.

Oblong face means a face that is long and slender. This type of face need to avoid heavy and long hair styles because it'll just make your face look longer and abnormal. Styles with short to medium length will outline your face better and create a more refreshing look. Layers will look great with an Oblong face.

Heart shaped face has wider forehead with a thin chin. Any long hair style will suit this type of face. Avoid a hair style shorter than your chin as this will put too much emphasis on your forehead and you'll appear to be 'top heavy'

Square shaped faces will suit medium to short hair with curls. Curls help to soften the rough outline of the square and adds definition to your entire outlook. Avoid straight long styles that will just flatten your face and make you look dull and ghostly.

Diamond and Oval shaped faces suit a variety of hairstyles, as these shapes are balanced and even. However try not to wear too much hair on your face (for example, a heavy fringe) as this will just cover your great features.

Too many people (both men and women) act on instinct and have their hair styled the same way as their favorite celebrity. Bring a picture of the hair you would like and ask your hair stylist for advice. After all, they are looking at faces and hair all day!
