I could start off by saying that the reason I started collecting postcards was because I have traveled the world, but that is not the case. As much as I like to visit different places the main reason i started collecting was because I needed to get a merit badge in the girl scouts. My mother found quite a few of them laying around the house and I put them all in a photo album, and I earned the badge at the age of 9 , and in fact it was quite an accomplishment for me because I had never worked so hard for anything else up to that point in my life.

Even after I was done with the girl scouts, I had really enjoyed having those pictures of different places, or events, or things from around the world, it just captivated my imagination to see them and think about what the person who was writing on them was going through, even if they were blank, there was something so intriguing about them, even to this day i can't really put my finger on it, but it just gives me this sense of excitement and wonder.

I didn't really have a particular preference for the kind of postcards I collected at first, but as I grew older I knew that the animals and Disney were my favorites, although I must say that I have gotten some that are just plain weird.

So I guess you could say, that i started collecting as a way to achieve something in my life, and as I grew up I wanted to maintain that sense of accomplishment within myself, and this hobby allowed me to do just that
