Alternative 'Spring Break' suggestions

I will be honest, I didn't think that I would be writing about alternative spring break destinations, why you might ask, well first off I am 26 years old and married, I haven't been on spring break in ages, but thanks to some maturity and some traveling that I have done in the past few years, I have come to the conclusion that there is more to life than getting drunk and having casual encounters with strangers, not that there is anything wrong with that, if thats what your into.

First off, when people think of spring break they come up with Lake Havasu, AZ or South Padre Island, TX, and in some other instances Cancun, MEX. All of these destinations have something unique to offer in their own way, but let me suggest some other places that you might not have thought about before. If your in California, I would strongly recommend San Diego, in my opinion it is the most versatile city in the entire state, you can enjoy the beach in the daytime, take a trip to Sea World or the San Diego Zoo, eat at some fantastic restaurants in the Gas lamp Quarter in downtown, all of this within a 30 minute drive. Depending on where your actually going, hotel prices can range anywhere from 50 dollars a night to about 250 dollars, so you might want to save up for this destination, but I can assure you it is worth it.
Another destination, that people might not be too familiar with is the Baja California coast in Mexico, Don't let the crazy stories from Tijuana fool you, there is a lot more to the peninsula than that city. About 40 minutes south, there is a city called Ensenada, located by the bay it has a population of just over 500,000 but it caters to families and to people looking for relaxation , in recent years the wine industry has taken off, and has many wineries in the region. Even though this might not sound like a a spring break city, you will definitely enjoy the atmosphere.
I believe that these two cities in different countries have something unique that will keep you going back year after year, but don't take my word for it, go ahead live it.
