Most of the bed and breakfast places that I've stayed in lately, seem to be in the business of luring romantics; A nice king bed in an old rambling house, floral wall hangings and comfortable furnishings, are all part of the ingredients that make up a pleasant stay; But at the focal point of this away from home experience, there always seemed to be a clean and very enticing Jacuzzi!
Hanging on the backs of the his and hers' chairs, we pleasantly noticed the fuzzy bath-robes and the fluffy, extra large towels, to match.
After a romantic dinner in a near by restaurant, we were utterly prepared to take the spirit of our evening further; Prior to leaving our home town, many hundreds of miles away, my girl friend and I, had made sure that we had packed a few surprises for each other!
Ten O' clock at night; Sits the large, quiet Victorian bed and breakfast house. The Jacuzzi is ready and there are votive candles all around the bathroom. The multiple lights flicker low, in unison and a slim, portable DVD player, sits comfortably in a small recess, with it's flat screen facing the tub.
As we slip into the warm water, a chic/guy movie starts to play. I pop open a bottle of white zinfandel and my girl friend produces two stemmed wine glasses. Sipping the wine, we enjoy feeding each other with an assortment of dark chocolates, sometimes sharing, just one.
Relaxed and in another world, we watch the movie, adding more hot water as we please. In each other's arms we lay and nothing else matters. Time has left us alone for all eternity!
The old clock downstairs, chimes to the mid-night hour and the chocolates and wine are all gone! Outside is still! We can only hear the trickle of the water and an occasional creak, as the old house adjusts to the night air.
The next day, we drive in search of our next bed and breakfast, a hundred or so, miles north. Along the way we gather more romantic items, such as additional candles, more wine, dark chocolates, red seedless grapes, another movie and a couple of choices of body lotions.
However, unknown to my girl friend, I had the biggest surprise of all! As I popped open the wine that night, I also popped the question! My Fiancee loves her ring!
