There are a few places one can get action figures other than the local toy store. One of the best places to find action figures if your into this type of action figure is the comic book store. Obviously you will want to go to the toy store in order to find action figures, however you can also find action figures at Gaming conventions and comic book conventions.

The toy store will probably be first on your list of places to look when expanding your collection of action figures. The toy store will have all the most popular cartoon characters on TV today as well as some of the most popular comic book characters. In addition they may have some that are not well known or are slightly older that are still in stock because they could not sell them.

Comic book stores often carry action figures, miniatures and vinyl statues of many popular comic book characters as well as gaming races such as Orcs and vehicles such as battlemechs. these will of course be more costly than the ones you will find in the toy store and also be more detailed. Sometimes, they will have vintage action figures that are no longer produced but these will often be some of the most expensive action figures.

Gaming and comic conventions often have the vintage collectible action figures as well as larger more decorative figures as well as some unique pieces you wont find anywhere else. There is no telling what you might find for sale at a convention. But it is a foregone conclusion that action figures will be amongst the booths in the main exhibit halls.

There are many places you can look to expand your collection of action figures. The places I have named are the best places to start but by no means are they the only options. Other places include on line auctions and estate sales but they are usually beyond my means and so not included here.
