Parent's introduction to understanding the video game language

'win'. Frag is closer in meaning to "utterly defile".

-to QQ (not to be confused with "to pew pew"): QQ is an emoticon that symbolizes crying eyes. Thus, 'to QQ' is to needlessly whine, cry, or complain. 'Newbs' are most often caught QQing after they have been 'pwned'. 'Hax' (defined below) may or may not be involved.

ADJECTIVES

-Broken (also OP, overpowered, cheap): An object, item, or weapon that is "broken" is incredibly GOOD. The term "broken" refers to how an incredibly powerful single item "breaks" the balance of a game. Broken items are often 'pwned' by being 'nerfed' (defined below).

-Nerfed: Adjusted to reasonable levels. Items that are nerfed for balance reasons of being previously 'broken' are often sold or discarded en masse, ruining an entire game's economy. It has been noted that thousands of 'newbs' have been documented 'QQing' when an over-valued necklace is nerfed.

INTERJECTIONS

-w00t! (also wewt, woot): Best translated as "YESSSS!", 'w00t is a proclamation of joy or positively-toned surprise. w00t is often exclaimed when a 'mob' drops good 'loot'. The pronunciation similarities between 'w00t' and 'loot' have lead some linguists to theorize that they have a common etymology. However, this link is not widely accepted.

-Hax! (also h4x): Hax! is an interjection yelled when a 'newb' gets 'pwned'. Hax! is a theoretical gaming demon that causes well-laid plans to go awry. Hax! has never been proved to exist, and it is posited that he is an imaginary creation of 'newbs' who want to blame their being 'pwned' on something other than themselves.

Although this list is by no means exhaustive, it covers many rudimentary vocab words for parents to be "in the know" about gaming. Don't be surprised if your children accuse you of "hax!" when you call them "newbs" after they get "pwned" in their "base".
