The characteristics of a good person are not always those you see first when you meet them. Because most good people seldom shine the light on themselves. They often go unnoticed unless someone else, who has come to know them, takes time to point them out.

The common traits seen in a good person are:

*An unselfish commitment to a cause-

Many have been volunteering in our society to help others. Our rescue squads ,fire department and community activists. For most their reward has been that they are comrades making life better for others. Those that have felt the need to support us through the armed services. Those that offer their lives to work in other countries and become missionaries to the rest of the world.

*A dedicated focus for another-

A mother,father or friend who has cared for a sick or handicapped person in their family or community. They have surrendered self and their own personal needs.

*The giving of ones own time or resources for what they see is a good cause-

The small and maybe meager donation of the poor, to who they say are even poorer or in need. Their effort then to make a big pot of soup, using the last of what they have left.

*Using their drive to help another succeed-

Long nights of study and research to find what the other needs to succeed. To support and persevere when all else fails and to be there if they fall.

*The willingness to give to another without expecting a reciprocal return

To believe in another with unacknowledged donations or resources. The gifts of the wealthy to the less fortunate among us.

There are many good people among us who we don't always see. We sometimes take them for granted their generosity and their good souls.
