Having your wisdom teeth extracted Will have your mouth sore for a few days afterwords . It is always best to eat soups and soda crackers the first couple of days . You do not want to eat solid foods , they leave residue in the holes where the wisdom teeth came out and can cause infections quickly .
Leafy salads , melons , and other soft foods , will be best to consume for the first few days . Stay away from caffeine and dairy products , caffeine restricts the blood vessels and can cause throbbing pain . Dairy products can leave bacterial culture in the mouth , so do not drink milk with open wounds in the mouth .
Smoking is as bad as caffeine , it restricts blood vessels also and can contribute to the pain .Always take the curved syringe they give you at the doctors office , or if you have a water pick , clean the tooth holes out after every meal . This will cut down on the chances for infections while your mouth is healing .
Avoid eating any acidic fruit , the acid the fruit produces can cause real sharp pains .
You can rinse your mouth out with warm salt water , this keeps the swelling down and helps the gums recover faster . Soups and soft foods will be your best bet in the long run , tenderness will subside in a few days and you can introduce your self back to egg salad sandwiches , and little Debbie cakes .
