My brother would go weekly to Newark theater late in the evening to see Rocky Horror Picture Show with my cousin and his friends. It was many years before he would take me. I loved it.
This is not a movie that you should take young children to see. It's got just about everything in it that you don't want them to see. That's what made it so much fun for those of us who grew old enough to go see it.
The movie itself was horrible. There really isn't much of a story line to it. That is not what makes this such a cult favorite.
This movie has transvestites, murder, tattoo's, sex and even cannibalism in it. Horrible as it sounds, it's a musical that will live with you forever. I have grown much older now and upon remembering this as some of the funnest moments in my life, I would take my grown children to see it. They would have a blast.
This isn't just a movie, it's an interactive movie. You have to be sure to take newspaper and a squirt bottle full of water and yes, even a lighter if you want to really have fun. Let's not forget your rolls of toilet paper either.
This musical will have you up in the aisles dancing and making sarcastic remarks to the characters in the movie. Just don't go expecting to see a fine piece of art work. It's a fun night where the some of the employees of the theater dress up as the movie characters and encourage you to get a little rowdy. Let's not go over board though. The audience doesn't eat human flesh and there is no sex allowed in your seats. It's just a fun packed night for older teenagers to go release some of their energy in a legal way.
