I strongly approve of the development and widespread distribution of the anti-rape device known as RapeX. As bad as sexual assault crimes are in America it is insignificant compared to the incident rate overseas.
Many of the countries I nave traveled through have serious problems with these crimes. In one country over eighty percent of the women lost their virginity as a result of rape; usually at a young age when puberty just began. School girls snatched off the street, sometimes in groups of 3 or 4 by gangs of boys from the privileged class. They know they will never be prosecuted because their family has all the power. The victims families are so poor they'll accept a monetary payoff to drop the charges. Money that does nothing to help the victim.
Unfortunately, the product will not be available for long. In foreign countries, men likely to do the assaulting also have the power to prevent the importation and distribution of RapeX. In America the product will go down in the courts and women will be the reason.
I have never seen any law or device that empowers women that wasn't abused. Already I have read of women who see the device as something to be used against cheating husbands. While I agree with punishing philandering spouses, this anti-rape device is not for that purpose. Its abuse will weaken public support for its use. Other women will use it in an assault on random men. Men who look like an ex or someone who snubbed them in high school.
In all of the above cases, it is relatively easy to lure a man into a private setting. Get him into a vulnerable, excited position then excuse yourself to go insert "contraception." Hey, what guy is going to complain about that? Ten minutes later, he's on the way to the hospital and the woman is giving the police her story. It wouldn't take long before the jails begin to fill up with innocent victims.
It might take decades to prove it, but eventually, enough evidence of abuse will mount. Wholesale release of rapists will follow, the guilty among the innocent, because RapeX would be discredited as proof of a crime. The class action suit brought by victims will bankrupt the company and the product would have long disappeared from the shelves. An excellent tool meant to protect women from criminals will fade into history. Serial rapist would return to the shadows to stalk their victims afresh.
