They both have a good and bad side. As all things in life.
A large family brings many friends, family events & celebrations more eventful. I think a large family gives more support. There are more relationships. On the other hand it is more of a financial struggle for most people to raise a large family. Which is stress on the parents & childeren, but in the long run you learn a lot from it and also become closer through hard times.
A small family. I am basing this on a one child family. I cannot imagine growing up nor living now as an adult without a brother or sister. But that is of course because I had both. It is hard to say. I think or would like to hope that an only child becomes more mature because they are exposed to more adults throughout their life than children. This can be good or bad. Only children tend to be closer to their parents but if not, they have no one to turn to, unless they are close cousins/family members.
I personally want one child of my own but I still feel odd about the "only child syndrome" so well stereotyped by the social world. Again, its hard for me to imagine no siblings. I think sometimes the love from the parents can be more, or enough, but it definately does not and will not ever replace the bond one has with a sibling. Its a tough decision, but after all, it is the parents choice. So I think it depends on the home and relationship situation of the parents. And also I want to mention that these days, ther are more "blended" families than ever before. So a lot of "only" children end up with step-siblings at some point in life. But that also could be good or bad.
My final deccision is none, because I have no experience as an only child therefore I cannot judge. But as a child with siblings growing up, I cannot imagine a life without a brother or sister now, then or in the furture. It just seems lonely.
