Granted there are not a great number of really good werewolf movies, especially if you come them to other monster movies. There are a few that automatically come to mind when someone asks, unlike other horror movies where you could probably make large lists.

This really doesn't make sense to me. Personally I am fascinated by the thought of the transformation that takes place on the full moon. How the affected person can live normally until that moon rises.

Below is my pick for top 10 Werewolf movies, in no particular order:

1. An American Werewolf in London (1981)- Two American students are in London where they are attacked by a werewolf. The survivor begins to dream about hunting down victims. His friend comes to him in dreams telling him he needs to die so he and the other victims killed by the werewolf can be free to move on.

2. Bad Moon(1996)- Based on the novel "Thor" by Wayne Smith, a man tries to free himself of the curse of being a werewolf, the help comes from the family dog, Thor.

3. The Boy Who Cried Werewolf (1973)- A young boy witnesses his father being attacked by a werewolf. He tries throughout the movie to convince his Mom and his therapist that his Dad is a werewolf.

4. Silver Bullet (1985)- A paraplegic boy tells the tale of the stalking and death of the werewolf terrorizing his town.

5. Teen Wolf (1985)- A somewhat comedic story of a teen who turns into a werewolf and becomes a great basketball player and the most popular guy at school. He learns the cost of this is more than he is willing to pay, his best friend and true love.

6. Dog Soldiers (2002)- British soldiers on maneuvers find themselves trying got escape from werewolves in the very home of the werewolf family. The result being the survival of one lone soldier and he families border collie. This is my personal favorite.

7. The Howling (1981)- Helping start the werewolf craze of the 80's this movie was much better than it's sequels. After a newswoman goes on a retreat following a traumatic incident with a serial killer, she seems to have gone from the frying pan into the fire as she is faced with "The Colony".

8. Underworld (2003)- A supernatural version of Romeo and Juliet. A vampire in love with a human who is being hunted by werewolves, leading to a showdown between vampires and werewolves.

9. Underworld Evolution (2006)- Continuing the war between the vampires and werewolves, this movie goes back to trace the bloodline of Selene, the vampire.

10. Gingersnaps (2000)- About two sisters who make a pact to die together. After Ginger is attacked by a werewolf her younger sister tries to find a cure before Halloween and the next full moon.

There have been others which I am sure deserve to be on this list. Hopefully Hollywood will soon be making more of these wonderful movies.
