Microsoft has delivered a freshly redesigned version of Microsoft Word for 2007. This new version boasts an excellent rework of the user interface by grouping tools into relevant tabbed categories. There is a smooth flow in menu transitions and it just feels more comfortable. Providing a softer look, it has taken the edge off the all business appearance and gives a more relaxed feel to your word processing. Given the degree of the interface change, it is surprising how little frustration was experienced in switching from Word 2003.

All of the familiar features are available. An enhancement to Cut, Copy, & Paste saves time and formatting issues. Top notch integration with other Microsoft Office applications blend seamlessly into Word. Compatibility with previous versions is a simple click. A variety of options are available to prepare a document for sending, including encryption, digital signatures, and personal information checks. Sending as fax or email has never been easier and posting to a blog is very straight forward.

Working together in a team has never been easier. Strong enhancements to multiple users working on the same document provide revision and tracking options. The use of colors and lines to identify changes made and by who lets you see exactly what is happening with the document. Integration with Microsoft Groove 2007 allows for real time sharing and revision where ever you may be on the globe. The use of revision features including comments gives the feel you are really constructing a document piece by piece.

Some other features include clip art, graphs & charts, and smart art. Creating references is a snap and Word can format them in a variety of styles, including APA and Chicago. Creating a Bibliography is available with the click of a mouse. A nice variety of themes are provided. Rolling your mouse over any theme, font size, or font option updates your document instantly allowing you to select your choice based upon how the text looks.

There appears to be no bugs or patches required, Microsoft put out a complete final product with Word 2007. I would recommend this product over other word editors or previous versions. Anyone doing a fair amount of word processing would do well to take a closer look. If it is in your financial means Microsoft Word 2007 is well worth the purchase.
