African Americans will never be free until we as a people begin to take responsibility for our actions. As a people we have a tendency to put each other down. One can not rise to the occasion of being a strong people until we learn that we must begin to be good to one another. That is a hard fact to face but, we fight among ourselves and kill each other with out giving it a second thought. I guess in a way that is the sad part about being black. That no matter how much a few of us try, to be good to each other, the others of us have been programmed to "tear the do -Good's down". That I figure comes from a long line of "She/he thinks she/he better than me syndrome".
Now why don't we be honest, it is a color war within a group of colored people. I know I have lived it and still see it happen each and every day. As African Americans we have had the thumb on us for so long that we believe it is OK to hurt one another, to make yourself look and feel better, because we have been taught for so long that we are "No good". African American should just be "American" but it will never be until not just blacks but others also treat each other with respect
American still is a country struggling with back door racism, the under tone is always there. As a group of people, being really free has a different meaning to each of us. The few of us that do make it are often looked upon as "White washed, suck ups" this is not true, but the mind set for us to put each other down, instead of thinking "Heck, they worked hard to get where they are" that is what I should do. In closing I must say, African Americans are not really free, never shall they be until we as a poeple get a clue and stop killing, and hurting each other. We need to be pulling together like other cultures...help each other.
So far we have missed the way the game is life is played, which makes us far behind our peers of other minority groups.
