HUMAN RIGHTS
'Human Rights' - At my home I have a complete list of the 'International Human Rights' and a wall map that goes with it. My mother used to subscribe to the 'New Internationlist Magazine' and as a result for a time I subscribed to it myself. It was a 'magazine' that stood up for the rights of the 'underdog' as I saw it, but more importantly it brought things that shouldn't be going on around the globe to our attention! I was fascinated with the magazine and the map which is proudly housed in a frame on my living room wall. I haven't the time to list all the 'Human Rights' but they are available on the Internet for us all to peruse if we have the time and the inclination to do that. As for my part in presenting this article I would say that I am all in favor of 'good causes' and magazines with 'good intentions' and for our part we can only do what we can, because most of us have lives that are all consuming. We can offer our verbal and charitable support and add our name to a list for this cause and that cause, because we care! That is all that most of us can do!
In April 2003 a young man called Tom Hurndall aged 21 was shot in the head as he carried a Palestinian child out of the range of an Israeli army sniper in the town of Rafah in the Gaza strip. I recently saw the book in my local library.
The book is written by Tom Hurndall's mother Joyce and I would love to read it at some point, because it will be about coping amongst other things. We lead lives at times that are all about coping, but the in between times could also be called 'bravery.' Bravery is what we all have to had to exert at some point in time, and no matter what the ordeal, they all have to be overcome. We can support each other through ordeals no matter what they may be. I don't judge ordeals because that is unfair. An ordeal is just that!
In the book are photos of the young man and his family and friends. The most poignant one is of him seconds after he has been shot, being carried along by two young men, with a third in the background with his head buried in his hands. The photograph is very moving and it must of taken a lot of courage for his mother to have put it in the book to share with us. I think that sharing things is important, almost 'cathartic,' no definitely 'cathartic.' I try to support people and through life I have always cared for this person and that person outside of my family. I offered support to those who came into my life, because they were unable to cope on their own.
None of us can take on everybody else's sufferings, only look on as bystanders in this life. We can hold our heads in disbelief as humans destroy other humans. WHY! What is the purpose of this? What has been accomplished in this life by that behavior? Is Hitler alive? Did he accomplish anything to benefit himself? NO! what he did do was cause a nation to be subsequently persecuted over 60 years ago and still pay the price to this day! I grieve for this world. I grieve for this earth that holds us bound by gravitational pulls to the ground that we walk along and take for granted at times. I grieve in general! I will offer my support to people that need me. I think back to just a few weeks ago when I watched a program that GAVE people 'bravery awards' and it was wonderful.
It will only be a snippet to what really goes on in this world! ACTS OF BRAVERY! I will not let the 'bully boys' rule at any costs. I will not loose my sense of humor. I will be that positive person in the main. I will seize life everyday. I will reach for the stars and MY GOAL!
