Horror movies. The thing that goes bump in the night. Ghosts, Goblins, werewolves, witches, oh my. Horror movies that give you the willies or worse, nightmares. For some people, a good scare gets the juices going. Watch some zombie go after a innocent and you cringe in anticipation of what is to come. Or watch some vampire sink his fangs into some person and you anticipate that person either turning into themselves or dying. Whatever your fascination with horror and the movies, you have to have a strong stomach to even want to watch one.
Here are some of the top 10 scariest horror movies ever made.
Salem's Lot - Stephen King's novel made into a movie. This movie was about a writer who returns to his New England home town only to find that the town is turning into vampires.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - if ever there was a movie that scared people into not stopping in rural areas, this was it. This movie was about five teenagers who are driving through rural Texas when they stumble onto an old farmhouse that houses some very weird family who turns out to be a family of mass murderers. A family who killed by using a chainsaw and terrorizing the teens.
Nightmare on Elm Street - Freddy Kruger was a child murderer with a very scary face. He was put to death by parents in his neighborhood because he killed their children. Freddy returns and exacts his revenge by going after the kids when they are sleeping.
Jaws - This movie put the fear of the water into people. Tale of a monster great white shark that terrorizes a family throughout the film. Roy Scheider starred as the new chief of police, Richard Dreyfess as the young oceanographer and Robert Shaw as an old fisherman. These three go after the shark who has begun a killing spree and are almost killed themselves. Actually the fisherman played by Robert Shaw is killed. It takes all of Roy's characters nerves and strength to destroy this shark. Great movie that set a chain of sequels.
The Shining - Another Stephen King book made into a movie. Starring Jack Nicholson as a Vermont Schoolteacher working at the Overlook as a winter caretaker. Strange things begin to happen as they go through the winter months. Jack becomes evil and dangerous as the time wears on. Just seeing Jack Nicholson evil gives me the creeps....
Night of the Living Dead - Seven people who are staying against their will at a farmhouse in Pennsylvania are relentlessly attacked by zombies. The people try to stay safe and sane as the zombies are relentless in trying to kill them.
Psycho - This movie would give anyone nightmares when taking a shower and you are attacked. Anthony Perkins portrays a lonely hotel keeper named Norman Bates. He lets a mystery blond woman stay at the hotel but trouble begins when his mother starts in on Norman. This woman is terrorized by Norman and in the most famous scene, is attacked by Norman when she is in the shower.
The Exorcist - Linda Blair stars as a 12 year old girl who is possessed by the devil.
Pet Sematary - Another Stephen King novel made into a movie. A family moves to a new neighborhood, they lose their cat, which is run over. Their neighbor tells them about a secret burial ground that has strange powers to be able to bring the dead back. They bury their cat there but it comes back later and that is when evil starts its rounds.
Halloween - Michael Myers is a killer who is locked away but escapes and begins his rein of terror. Wearing a mask so he can enhance the terror, will put the ultimate terror in your dreams.
These were the top 10 scariest horror movies ever filmed. These were enough for you to take a look behind you at night so nothing would happen to you.
