Reflections: Halloween

have been cold at night time. So then I got some inexpensive shells from a craft store,(the kind used in baking), and made her a bra out of shells. Then spray painted her hair bright orange as she already had long hair and here she was the "Perfect Little Mermaid." I watched her beaming from ear to ear as she looked at herself in the mirror, she couldn't believe her dream come true to be the "Little Mermaid."

Next I made my husband into "Frankenstein" and he was so funny looking. I gave him a dark Gray suit jacket that was one size too small and a black t-shirt under it and some jeans that I hiked up on the bottom to make it look like he was taller, he had some black work boots that were perfect along with some green and gray face painting complete with some scars and stitches.

Last but not least, I made myself into a "Witch!" Then out the door we all set out for trick or treating. I know for a fact, this night my children will never forget. We had so many people from the neighborhood laughing and snapping pictures of us and going crazy over all our costumes. My son would stop traffic and people would yell out of their car at him "Hey Elvis", to which he would reply "Thank you very much" in a Elvis style voice. I was just the biggest kick I ever had and everyone was in their role and played it well.

I think I probably had more fun than any of my kid could have, with thinking and then actually creating the costumes. Now their grown up and Halloween is still a big part of their life, if you can believe it. My son who is now almost 30 still dresses up and last year he and his girlfriend who is quite buxomest when together as "Dog the Bounty Hunter and his wife." It was just so hilarious seeing my son with a blond mullet wig on and beads clipped to his hair with a sleeveless t-shirt on and tattoo transfers on his arm complete with the sun glasses and gear. And his girlfriend with a huge bleached blond wig and looking exactly like Dog's wife, It was so funny.

My oldest daughter Laura wanted to be strawberry shortcake and I made her the cutest costume complete with the big hat and a strawberry on top, she said she had so many people ask her where she got her costume, my daughter proudly said "my mother made it for me", and has told me she will never get rid of that costume.

I still sit around before Halloween and think of good costumes. I've even thought about opening a business of making Halloween costumes because it's just so much fun putting together the whole thing. Halloween is now a time people get together and just let their hair down and become someone or something else for that one night out of the whole year and all out of pure fun.
It's all about FUN!
