Are US Presidential Debates Too Controlled to Allow Freedom of Speech?
Presidential debates are not too controlled but the politicians seem to be too controlled because they don't want to say anything they can be held accountable for. The voting public would like to see debates where the politicians running will tell us what they stand for and to be told precisely what we can expect from them if they are voted into office. The debates are definitely not too controlled. I would love to hear a debater something with some substance. I would love to have some insight into the individual that would like for me to cast my ballot for them. The American people would like to see one of the candidates be real with us.
don't think presidential debates are too controlled to allow for freedom of speech. I watched a two hour debate on MSNBC of the Democratic candidates. The debates afford us the opportunity to see the personality of the candidates. How he handles his/herself, show us if they are big with creative ideas, and how fast they can think under attack by the other candidates. The stakes are so high in this particular election, the more we can see the candidates and hear their strategy for running the country, the better we are equipped to vote.
If a candidate has nothing to 'bring to the table' but mudslinging and accusing the other candidates of not being worthy for the job, I think we should take note that he/or she has nothing to offer. Our future well being is at stake and we need clear, decisive leadership that is able to garner the respect of this nation and world leaders. We want the best leader possible for our sake and for the sake of the world as large. The threats we are faced with should be taken seriously and the issues about climate and global warming are issues that should not be taken lightly. The difference in what party should not even be considered. We should go with the individual who is able to "man" the job and make positive inroads toward viable solutions to these problems.
