Halloween: Should trick-or-treating be banned?

I think the Halloween practice of trick-or-treating should be banned nationally for several reasons. I am not a scrooge or take pleasure in ruining the fun of children. However, as years have passed the practice of trick-or treating has gotten out of hand.

When I was growing up trick-or-treating was something done in your own neighborhood. One of my favorite neighbors back then was a woman who loved the neighborhood children so much she took the time to make each child that visited her home every year a popcorn ball and a candied apple. Those were the good old days! There was no fear of a child being poisoned to death or having it's mouth and tongue sliced open with razor blades inserted in apples by some lunatic.

I would not mind at all to purchase a high quality, higher priced candy for trick-or-treaters from my immediate neighborhood. However, a lot of today's lazy and greedy parents are taking their children in truck loads and turning them loose in subdivisions where they think the child can get the most candy or get it over with the quickest way possible so they can go home. Most of it is greed as most of these children are let out in several subdivisions taking pillow cases or grocery bags in the car or truck with them to dump the candy from the pumpkin bucket they carry in and continue to collect more and more. Parents with two or three children are taking home as much as two or three pillowcases full of candy at the end of the evening. What kind of parent would teach a child to be that greedy? What child needs that much candy? They don't! The parents help eat it but even so, it's way too much for one family and an unnecessary financial burden on the people they prey upon. The subdivision I live in is just an average subdivision and we get as many as 150 costumed trick-or-treaters within three hours. I have even had parents ask for grocery bags to put the overflow of candy in and had one parent ask me to let her child use our bathroom. When I said yes because I felt sorry for the child, in came a houseful. Meanwhile, the doorbell is still ringing with other trick-or-treaters and I cannot watch these strangers in my house to make sure the parents were not up to no good.

Halloween night is a nightmare for disabled people who have difficulty getting up and down to answer the door and it is very difficult for a lot of pet owners who answer the door for trick-or-treaters to hand out candy and try to keep pets from escaping outside when there are several children

This is a dumb idea. Should trick-or-treating be banned? This is ridiculous.

I see no reason for stopping trick-or-treating.
