I love a good Werewolf movie, but the only problem is that there really aren't that many good ones, and when there is a good it's usually a pretty long time before we see another that's any good, but I'll break down a list of my personal favorites.
1. An America Werewolf in London- John Landis's movie about two American guys backpacking through Europe, and getting caught up with a Werewolf is a classic. It's funny, scary, and has one of the best transformation scenes ever put to film.
2. The Howling- Joe Dante's movie is about a woman who gets sent to a retreat to help her recover from some post traumatic stress only to find out that the colony is filled with vicious Werewolves. Another classic, and another one with a great transformation.
3. Ginger Snaps- The story of two sisters who have a fascination with death that have a run in with a Werewolf. One sister gets bit, and things begin to get a little hairy at school, and at home. A very good horror movie, and without a doubt one of the best Werewolf movies in a very long time.
4. Dog Soldiers- This British horror/action film marked the directing debut of Neil Marshall, and what an entrance he made in the horror genre. The movies about a team of soldiers that are sent into the mountains for a training exercise only they find out that the other team was wiped out by a pack of Werewolves. It's a simple story, but one fun time at the movies.
5. Sliver Bullet- This movie based on a Stephen King story is about a small town that has a sudden rash of gruesome murders. A young boy tries to figure out who might be responsible, and finds out that it's the work of a Werewolf. It's not a perfect movie, but it sure is a fun one, and easily one of the best.
6. Bad Moon- A cool little Werewolf movie that bombed during it's initial theatrical release. It's worth a look if you haven't seen it.
7. The Wolfman- The classic Universal monster. Need I say more?
That's it for my list, and it's sad that I couldn't come up with ten Werewolf films, but at this time I can't really think of anymore that made an impression on me so that's it. I hope you enjoyed my list, and have a great Halloween!
