What can i tell you about prejudice? If you only knew. I currently live in a mostly African American neighborhood. Here white people are looked down upon because of things that happened in the past.The people are very degrading to myself and my children. My daughters often ask me why people act rude and make comments about us. I tell her that some people just are angry for the things that our ancestors have done in the past and that all of these people are not bad but that they are closed minded when it comes to these types of things. We can't change their minds but only smile and be polite and be the bigger person because it is not us who has done anything wrong to them. I have recently started dating an African American man and we have also had a child together. My daughters know that just because we have a different skin color does not mean that we are better or different in any way.The father of my two daughters was also very prejudice against African Americans but after getting to know the man i am with now he has also seen that he shouldn't label one race in any particular way. All people are the same on the inside. We have the same things that make us live. color is only skin deep and thats what anyone needs to let their children know. Prejudice is an Awful thing and it needs t stop. If we all let or children know that all people are going to be how their parents raised them to be regardless of color then maybe there would be a little less hate in the world.
