What makes a great ghost story?

Ghost stories come in all forms and personally for me the scariest ones are the ones you hear about in EVP's.. EVP is "Electronic Voice Phenomenon." In recent years many science based believers have come to want more that just the myths you hear about, they set out to find more about the beyond in the form of solid evidence through our modern technology.
EVP's are voices recorded on a tape recorder and amplified so voices normally not heard can now be heard. Nothing has yet been able to explain how this all happens.

I was laying in bed one night listening to the radio when a guess speaker came on. This person was an EVP specialist and had a website explaining all about EVP's.. They started to explain that they first stumbled onto this by accident when they were messing around with a normal tape recorded and happened to randomly ask a question while the recorder was on.

The question asked was "Is anyone here with us?" to their surprise when they rewound the tape they heard a faint voice say " He cut my throat".. They were both frightened and excited to have some solid evidence of something not heard by the normal ear.

Thomas Edison was to have been working on EVP device. But the actual credit goes to a Swedish man named Fredrich Jurgenson who was recording bird sounds in the countryside in Sweden then when played back he distinctly heard the voice of a man discussing nocturnal bird songs in Norwegian. He hear many voices when ever he would play back his recordings on playback, and some would even give him instructions on how to make better recording some giving him instructions on how to record more voices. This research takes place all over the world but mainly the USA & Germany.

It's quite alarming to hear voices you have never hear before on actual tape that is clean or new. Some of the studies have been conducted when they ask questions and the voices answers back in relation to the question and others are random things that happen to come through, and some come through when the recorder is on randomly. But the one phenomena that no one can explain is why the majority of the recording are of children's voices and. Many of the voices heard from children are from giggling to crying and being upset and actually saying things.

There is no movie in this world that can scare me, but hearing voices that happen to come through EVP's scare me every time. It's not explained or understood yet, but hopefully with the advancement of technology we will in the near future be able to have this all explained and perhaps be able to actually talk to loved ones passed on.
