JUNGLE ADVENTURE
Fred knew his wife felt down about turning 40 she he thought it would be a great surprise to take her on a jungle adventure in the Belize rainforest. He chose Chaa Creek because it was on the bank of the Macal River and at the foothills of the Maya Mountains. He knew that she would love it and he was right.
The varying shades of green, the vibrant colors of flowers and melodious song birds invigorated Grace and Fred. They spent the night in a hut with all the amenities. Soon the middle-aged couple felt like newlyweds again.
The following day Fred signed them for a tour on horseback to the Mayan Temples. They were excited as they watched the rain fall while they ate at the verandah at the restaurant. When the rain broke, the sun flooded the rainforest; Fred and Grace, and several others started their adventure.
Their guide showed the group various native birds and landmarks. They entered a thicker part of the forest. Chattering from the scampering monkies added to the peaceful noise. Suddenly, Grace felt something hit her in the head. She looked up and noticed a monkey tossing small fruit. Others were pelted but laughed it off. They continued to the Mayan Temple.
Fred and Grace were at the rear of the group deeply inhaling the living forest. There were some fallen trees ahead which the group had to stoop down to pass. As Fred stooped, another mischievous monkey grabbed his toupee and darted into the treetops. Fred yelled at the money but it was no good. The little monkey laughed somewhere in the trees.
Slightly embarrassed, Fred told the group what happened. Of course they sympathized but laughed anyway. Up head the temple beckoned them. Fred forgot all about his missing hair piece and ventured to the temple.
The sun emblazoned the temple, small pockets of fog drifted from the base. Grace and Fred climbed to the top. Once at the apex, their worldly troubles melted away. It was like they waited their whole lives for a moment like this; a moment where they felt one with each other, one with the world and one with God. They stood together and felt alive again.
