With vitamin supplements, the vitamins are not always getting fully absorbed. As children grow they need an abundance of nutrients in order to maintain optimal growth and health. When you give a child a supplement in place of healthy food, you are playing with your child's nutritional health. Children taking supplements are in danger of malnutrition as they may inadvertently overdose on a particular vitamin. Also, some vitamins need the presence of other vitamins and minerals in order to be absorbed into the body.
Take calcium for instance. Calcium needs the presence of vitamin D and a few others in order to be properly absorbed. It is the responsibility of the parents to teach their children to maintain a healthy diet. If you never introduce junk food to your child, then until school, they will not want it. Regulate television and Internet use. A proper diet is vital for your child's health. If your child is low in calcium and wont drink milk, add chocolate. Get your child to eat flavored yogurt or freeze it as a treat. Emphasize fruit in there diets. Freeze 100% fruit juices as pop-sickles. Introduce your child to varieties of vegetables.m Eventually you will find a few that they will eat.
Think about the way you are cooking these vegetables. Try different ways and different dressings to change the flavor for them. Children are allowed more fat then we are as adults because most times they are so active they actually require it. Make the food fun, get your child to help you in the kitchen, this might make them more excited to eat the healthy food you prepared together. If you make eating healthy fun, your child will be more willing to enjoy the food and will begin to get the necessary vitamins they need to regulate their energy and functions in their body during their growth.
In addition, if you start the habit of healthy eating at a young age, they will be more likely to maintain it in the years to come. Another way to make vegetables fun is to mix them into mashed potatoes. The potatoes mask most of the flavor of the vegetables and make them more tasty for consumption. Make sure you keep a variety in their diets and they will get everything they need. Supplements are not necessary and in extreme cases sometimes harmful.
