How to volunteer at your children's grade school

Volunteering in your child's school is an awesome experience for both you and your child. At the beginning of the new school year, the school or the teacher will send out a form asking for volunteers. I recommend hand delivering this form to your child's school if at all possible, due to the fact that the form may get lost on the way to school. Once the form is turned in, the teacher or the school will notify you of the days and times that are available.

The most important decision to make is whether you would like to volunteer where there is a need within the school or in your child's class. I recommend two things, first, that if you volunteer in your child's class, that you have a clear understanding with your child, that you are there to work with all of the children. Once this ground rule is established, your volunteer experience will be greatly rewarded. Secondly, I recommend having lunch with your child either before or after your designated time to volunteer. This signifies the beginning or end of your time within the school and will give your darling child a positive experience for having their parent(s) in the school.

YOU, are creating memories that will last a lifetime.
