The school is a mini-world. Students come to learn how
to live in the world as well as give to the world the
portion of them that is best. Because all students are
not book focused, it is to necessary to cultivate the
other parts of them that will enable them to become
musicians, artists, dancers, actors, poets, song and
script writers. This category is universally known
as the fine arts.
Students who participate in the fine arts programs
are have more dimension to them than those who do not.
In other words, they have more to offer than just a
book knowledge. Not only do the fine arts enhance and
enrich a student's life, they also may later provide
a way for a student to earn a living provided he/she
demonstrates excellence in any one of those endeavors.
The fine arts help to make the world a place of beauty
and appreciation. We all enjoy sports, and many come
to see indoor and outdoor competitions, however, people
around the world enjoy a night at the opera, a concert,
live theater, the ice capades, a night of poetry, and
seeing an artist's portfolio. What a drab world it
would be without these wonderful events to attend. As
evidenced by history, the fine arts have ever been
spectacles for the world. From ancient to modern day
cultures, their place will never be replaced.
Keeping the fine arts in the schools helps to ensure
our forthcoming generations, that they too, will not
lose the touch of creativity. The fine arts involve
beauty, grace, form, melody, suspense, perfection and
color to us. The masterpieces in the past reveal
intense strivings for perfection, and this is a quality
all students need.
When students can shine in these areas, they feel good
about themselves. Even if their academic grades are
not all A's and B's, the fine arts programs give the
students a chance to feel on top of the world about
their achievements. Hearing the applause of the
audience, in and of itself, is wonderful and lets
the students know there are those who appreciate and
welcome their achievements.
The development of fine arts takes time. As students
progress in these areas, they will find themselves
more able to compete with students around the world.
For many of them the fine arts will be their ticket
to travel and meet others in their field. They will
be able to learn, share and be exposed to their field
of endeavor in a way that has no comparison. We must
always keep the fine arts door open, because it may
be a door through which a student can go through and
find himself and wonderful possibilities.
in a way that amount of book
