The Coaching Comfort Zone
It is very important to remember that we are all different. The aim of any coach is to retain his or her own identity whilst being creative in the way they present their ideas and coaching tools. It will be beneficial for you as a coach to come up with new ideas and be brave enough to put your personal stamp out there on the coaching map.
We often hear the statement Dare to Succeed' being levelled at our kids across the nation in both education and sport.
So I pose a similar question to all coaches and would be coaches out there, who read this article.
Dare to be Different'! Come up with new and innovative ways of gaining and then sharing your new found knowledge with tomorrows' stars.
Coaching should be fun, interactive, challenging and player centred so as to involve them in all aspects of what you are trying to share.
As mentioned earlier no one is and never will be perfect. I'll always remember a time back in my days as a young professional at Ipswich Town Football Club when Sir Bobby Robson once said to me "remember son you and me alike will forever be students of this great game" How true his wise words were.
The game is changing rapidly season by season as players become more efficient in all corners' of their development. Players are and always will be the main ingredient to successful coaching. They need to be developed and nurtured holistically so they can cope with the ever-increasing demands of the modern game.
So if that is the case then it will mean that you the coach will have to step out of Your Coaching Comfort Zone' be creative, imaginative and willing enough to embrace, acknowledge and more importantly cater for the ever-changing needs of not only the modern game and player but also that of You the modern COACH'!
Good luck, have fun and keep using your Imagination'
