Creative Halloween costumes for adults

Easy costume solution with stuff right in your house: Be a pirate!

Men: This is easy, pick out a button up shirt in a solid color or black, and wear it with the top buttons undone. Leave the shirt out and tie something around your waist like a sash, or a wide belt (borrow it from your wife!). Wear a vest if you have one (not puffy down or pullover, like from a suit). If you have a tall pair of boots all the better. Wrap a scarf or bandanna around your head. Tie another one around one arm, like you've suffered a bullet wound. You can add makeup ala Johnny Depp if you are so inclined but at a minimum, grab some of your wife's eye liner and draw a scar across you cheek. Gold neck jewelry helps the look too.

Ladies: It's about the same, pick a long sleeved shirt with billowy sleeves and add a vest. A skirt with a fringed scarf tied around the waist gypsy-style adds some flair. And boots are a must (of course you have them!) Big hoop earrings and crazy make up (you can use eye liner to make a scar as well, but put it in a different spot than your hubby's). Think grubby pretty, not glamour girl: use eye shadow to make your face smudgy. Wear all your rings at the same time. A bandanna on your head is a good option, or just muss up your hair, or both.

If you have any time to shop ahead, an eye-patch completes this outfit nicely and is about a dollar at walmart.
