Is A- Rod the best player in baseball?
This is a very hard thing to quantify. If I look solely at his statistical accomplishments, I would have to say yes. When you consider the fact that he is an
exceptional fielder with a great arm, good base runner, hits for average as well as
power you have the quintessential five tool player in the game today. Although I am both

an avid Yankee fan and appreciate A-Rods talents, upon further review, A-Rod with his
"opt-out" drama being played out nationally, and upstaging the World Series, reveals
himself to be just another in an increasingly long line of self absorbed pro athletes.
It kind of begs the question; When is 252 Million not enough? Well, that one is easy...
When you can get 300...350...dare we say 400 MILLION DOLLARS! It is GREED! SELFISH,
UNADULTERATED GREED! This speaks volumes about the trouble not only with sports today,
but with society as whole. We've become a very cynical and jaded bunch in this society.
A society in which the pure joy of sports has been relegated to a thing of the past.
So is A-Rod the best? Yes, but so what! Thanks Pay-Rod, Boras, Baroid Bonds and all
your ilk! You've played a large role in surgically removing the joy that some
us so fondly remember. Yeah...THANKS AGAIN!
