Rachael, be awake.
Be a character that I made
in tennis shoes stained
with red brown dirt
and wear your heart at your feet
until I tell you to scoop it up neat
in a plastic bucket complete
with a fat sponge for washing the T-bird.
Come awake and be.
Rachael. Speak.
For me?
My back aches and these shoes pinch.
This shirt chokes me under the arms.
I can't lift them an inch.
